Christy Desta Pratama

Desta has more than 17 years of working experience in the field of economic research and natural resources management. He is a trained economist with a master’s degree in Environmental and Resource Economics from the Australian National University. His working experience includes management and technical positions at PROSPERA, Conservation Strategy Fund, CIFOR, World Bank, Yayasan BaKTI, Conservation International, University of Indonesia, and WWF Indonesia. In the past 6 years, he works on utilising economic and finance tools to help conservation efforts in various places in Indonesia. Desta enjoys the challenging economic valuation and cost-benefit analyses of environmental projects—both in marine and forestry projects. He also mentored more than 15 researchers in economics and finance for conservation topics. His recent work is valuing carbon potential for sustainable financing in West Papua.

Ehdra Beta Masran

Ehdra has a strong scientific background in marine science and possesses more than nine years of working experience in marine and forest conservation—especially in building local community engagement. His local community engagement includes several years working with the indigenous people of Papua where he helps with the customary declaration of indigenous forest and land use right. One notable work in this area is his work in forming an indigenous conservation area of Teo Enebikia. In addition to his past experiences working with the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) and WWF Indonesia, he has taken up several research assignments in mangrove, forestry, and fisheries for FAO, World Resources Institute, Conservation International, Econusa, Kausa, and Blue Forest. In most of his work, he leads a field team to gather data and information directly from the ground.

Dirga Daniel

Dirga has more than six years of experience working on several projects related to spatial planning programmes. He started his career with WWF Indonesia on marine and coastal programs, including marine and coastal protected areas and marine spatial planning. He specialises in remote sensing as well as GIS analysis and mapping—especially for coastal habitats like mangrove, seagrass, and coral reef. He has been working with NGOs, includes Yayasan TERANGI, UNDP Indonesia, USAID, and Conservation International. Dirga helps visualise important areas and information that will help readers understand complex issues better. His works also helps other experts in doing their analyses.

Woro works more than ten years in community development. She pursued her master’s degree in Development Practice from James Cook University, Australia. She has worked for 12 years at Blue Forests in different roles for various projects such as Restoring Coastal Livelihoods (OXFAM and CIDA), LESTARI-USAID project, and Building with Nature (Ecoshape Consortium project) where she was responsible for managing the Coastal Field School program of BwN project in Demak, Central Java. During her time at Blue Forests, she was trained in mangrove forest landscape assessment and Ecological Mangrove Rehabilitation (EMR), particularly in the socio-economic aspect of it, and the Coastal Field School (CFS) method. She has also worked a research assistant and CSR program development assistant for an FSC-certified mangrove logging company in West Papua.
